Conceptualization
Urban agriculture—the practice of growing plants and raising animals in and around cities—brings fresh food, jobs, waste recycling, and climate resilience to urban areas. As cities expand, there is an increasing need for hubs that address issues like poverty, food insecurity, and environmental health. In Norman, Oklahoma, where interest in urban agriculture is growing, a new wellness center is under construction in downtown. This center will feature the Norman Farm Market and cooking demo spaces, offering the community opportunities to learn about sustainable agriculture and experience food production beyond the grocery store.
